Introductions were made as we began and people joined the call.

Northern Michigan Conference
The conference went well and got great feedback. Our ratings came back at primarily “4” with some “3” and “5.” Generalists liked the futurist and those with technical background preferred the case study. The program provided interest for
We need to put together a formal report of the conference. Alicia will put together a list of participants and send out to everyone who participated, including sponsors. Also, she will follow up with all speakers to get their updated presentations.
Helen would also like us to post the biographies at the web site. For next time, we should try to get copies of the presentations on CD ahead of time.
Alicia will send out email to see who has the tri-fold HIMSS board from the conference. Including Roger: rboyer1@hshs.org If not, we will call the conference center and locate it.
Ron had mentioned putting job postings at the web site. We will talk about this further next time. We need someone to volunteer to manage the web site. This may also tie into National has a JobMine site that Jennifer could talk about next time. This will be an agenda item next time. It may be a better alternative to refer people to the JobMine site at the HIMSS national web site.
ACTION ITEM: Alicia will contact Jennifer and ask about her availability, and talk about JobMine.
We need to get our strategic planning back on line so we can re-present this to the group.
HISA is putting on a conference in September, this may be a good opportunity for us to help co-sponsor the program and help fulfill our obligation for conferences. HISA is a local healthcare IT group that puts on quarterly conferences in SouthEast Michigan that further knowledge in HIT.
We can target October or November for our next event and focus on other things in the next few months. The IT Manager’s Toolbook is the name of the conference.
One of the things we need to do for national is to put together a budget of what we expect to spend in the next year. Helen asked Ken to put together a draft budget for next year based on last year’s expenses and conferences. It was noted that we know what we will get in dues from members, the approximate growth factor from last year, what we have spent on conferences, etc.
ACTION ITEM: Ken will put together a draft budget and send it out.
HIMSS National sent a list of prospects to us for possible membership. It would be nice to set up a program committee to do this kind of work.
We should plan for three conferences and one annual meeting. Helen believes a two-day seminar gets us credit for two conferences.
26th will be next meeting. Following that, we would like to have a face-to-face with our RAC people. Alicia will send out email to ask when they would be available and where the best location would be.
Several people said that they would be interested in participating more. Helen suggested we reengage everyone
Alicia will send the revolving Powerpoint to Jim for posting at the web site. Also minutes from the strategic planning meeting. Helen would like Jim to place the presentation in the officers/board section of the web site.
Elaine took pictures with her digital camera. Jim will send her an email to send the pictures to him so they can be posted at the web site.

19 people played golf. Elaine Roach won the Woman’s Closest to the Pin award and also won the Fred Astaire award for dancing on the tee.
At 7 am there was thunder light, the power went off twice at the hotel
At 9 am they went out there and were delayed about 1 hour then had a wonderful day of golf.
Future Agenda Items
Determine methods to archive all HIMSS data permanently in anticipation of handing off to future HIMSS officers.
MI-HIMSS Supermarket. This would be a mini-exposition of Michigan vendors. We would group by technology, which is where the Supermarket concept comes from—for example, CPOE vendors are in one area, EMR vendors in another, Security is in another, etc. We would bring in vendors and allow them to present separately, perhaps even a technology face-off, as well as provide the expo. We expressed some concern regarding HIMSS National feelings about this type of event.
HIMSS Speaker Assistance Program
Working with Ann Arbor office to publicize programs and get their assistance.
